United Tennis Arkansas

United Tennis Arkansas (UTA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, established in October 2025 as a local chapter of the United Tennis Organization (UTO). Based in Northwest Arkansas, UTA is dedicated to expanding access to the sport of tennis by fostering inclusivity and community engagement. Its inaugural program, located in Springdale, Arkansas, will follow the proven UTO format, offering group tennis lessons designed to serve and empower diverse communities.

In November 2025, United Tennis Arkansas will launch its pilot program in Springdale. This four-week initiative will provide beginner-level tennis lessons for children, with two one-hour classes offered each week. The purpose of this pilot is to begin creating traction within the community, introduce families to the benefits of tennis, and establish a strong foundation for future programs and expanded outreach across Northwest Arkansas. The initial cost of the pilot program will be $50 for the full four weeks of classes, and UTA will provide all necessary equipment to be used at the courts during the sessions. We anticipate that children will enjoy their time on the courts and will be encouraged to return in the spring for continued tennis programming and growth.

United Tennis Arkansas was created to address the growing need in the region for an alternative sport that is affordable, fun, and accessible for both children and adults. Tennis provides a unique opportunity for families to play and learn together, while fostering lifelong health and fitness. UTA programs are intentionally designed for people of all ages and abilities, ensuring inclusivity and community-wide participation. Beyond the court, UTA aims to make a lasting impact by helping children not only improve their tennis skills but also strengthen their educational development through discipline, focus, and teamwork.

UTA will also be the first USTA National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) program in Northwest Arkansas, joining the nationwide USTA Foundation network that provides free or low-cost tennis, education, and life-skills programming to under-resourced youth. Founded in 1969, the NJTL network is dedicated to building character and creating opportunities for young people through a powerful blend of athletic, academic, and life-skills development. By becoming part of this movement, UTA will bring these proven resources and opportunities to local communities, reaching children who might not otherwise have access to the sport of tennis or the educational support that comes with it.
